Summary
Overview
An active convergence zone linked to Tropical Cyclone Wilma has brought about heavy rainfall experienced by Samoa as of the 24th January 2011. Since the 18th of January 2011 up to 9:00am yesterday morning, the total amount of rainfall observed at 14 climate stations around the country recorded a total of about 4502.7milimeters.
This continuous rainfall has maintained high level of soil saturation hence the severe flooding in the greater Apia Urban area.
It is predicted that heavy rainfall will continue for the next three days. Flood Advisories were included in the Severe Weather Bulletins issued for Tropical Cyclone Wilma and are continuing with the normal weather bulletins issued this morning and in the evening.
At 9.00PM this evening it was reported water levels of surface flooding has receded on some of the main roads but water levels in drainages and rivers / streams still high. This presents a potential threat due to the continuous rainfall and the expected high tide midnight tonight.

ELECTRICITY
· EPC response continues to ensure electricity for all of Samoa and have response to reports from the public regarding – Tree Hazards threatening powelines and electrical
poles.
WATER
· Water is still available but unsafe for consumption.
INFRASTRUCTURE
· Vaimoso Uta road and Fuluasou ford are still closed.
COMMUNICATION
· No communication breakdown yet.
HEALTH
· MOH on standby to assist with evacuation and to lead coordination of health sector response.
EVACUATION
· Evacuation shelters on stand-by include Nurses Association Hall and Letogo LDS church compound.
PUBLIC SAFETY
· Public Safety messages continue to be broadcasted on 2AP including general health care messages and safety precautions.

· Surface flood waters receded on roads but water levels in drainages, rivers and streams remain high.
